Since it's the 50th anniversary of this revolutionary album, it would be nice for someone from the staff to review it in February.

If no one comes forward, maybe I will.

People might think Paranoid has a very iconic riff, but I think the t/t's intro is the QUINTESSENTIAL riff of Sabbath and Iommi. It's uniquely their style

Title track is the embidiment of doom metal. I wouldn't pick paranoid from the second album though, but Iron Man. It's an iconic riff (probably the most iconic in heavy metal history) and the way Iommi manipulates the bottom string to give it its distinct sound, it's just brilliant.

Will re-dig this and surely bumping this to Classic.

Should have been done sooner.

Seriously, the engineer of this album is an unsung genius. The few little details that made this record what it is today, is owed to him. The band just went in the studio and played their regular live set. It was the production team that added the special effects on the t/t (rain, thunderstorm, etc). The cover song, "warning" was originally a 30-minute jam which was trimmed by the producer Rodger Bain. In his autobiography though, Iommi wasn't very fond of the producer, saying "the band didn't get a lot of advice from him".

sleeping village is one of my favorites too

early sabbath has so many easy-to-learn songs that are great for jamming

it's no surprise since all of these tunes were written while the band was jamming
