I'm giving this a 3.0 after the 2.0 I had given it a while ago. I still think it's boring to listen to as a whole but a few of the songs kind of grew on me. I think they should have sticked to making 5-minute songs and not 8-minute ones and a double album.

The band's ability to make a good record died, after Jason left.

I like Jason's personality and singing more than Rob's but Robert is a better player than Jason, closer to Cliff.

I think it is fair to say that an album comprised of longer songs is tiring to listen to, but I still believe this is their best album. The lyrics are meaningful, the music is spectacular, and it established Metallica as a top-tier act leading into the 1990's. Say what you will about the bass guitarist, but I feel it is petty.

Also, Neil Young is a Canadian pretending to be a Southern rocker. Lynyrd Skynyrd was obviously better.
