my suspension of disbelief is fragile but most of this indulges it like a treat

closer's vocals (+Dead City Centres v/o +dumb Hitchcock remix) are all sad ol' fuckin really moments though

at least the closer has some dynamism going on, which i think is what diminishes that um, really moment. sounds like an actual song. so much of this is just like, dude talking over a haunted house soundtrack paired w/ your local catholic church's drummer who recently went atheist playing breaks

anything (melo)dramatic enough that you can conceive it as a high-contrast (usually) 2D mental image = kitsch

burial's style definitely has one foot in kitsch, he just obfuscates it because something something greycityscape nothing is real streetlyf
