Songwriting improved a lot with ITP and Symbolic, and with Leprosy and SBG they had that old school style down to an absolute science. Spiritual Healing, and this to a lesser extent, are pretty much Death evolving into something new - and the growing pains shine through. Just my worthless two cents.

My biggest problem with this album is that the song structures get annoyingly predictable and repetitive after a while. Suicide Machine is easily the worst offender too... that solo could have easily gone on for double or triple the length it did before launching us right back into the exact same fucking verse and chorus we just heard a minute ago

Well its not the only death album guilty of that, but theyve pulled it off in a much cleaner fashion elsewhere. I still think ITP is one of the greatest albums ever made and it really doesnt do a lot much differently than this one, its just executed with an unmatched level of finesse.
