WTF is wrong with this band? It sounds so incredibly cheesy... I had 3 separate sessions to get in to their albums, with no success at all. It's like power/prog metal meets black metal in very bad way. If i want my power/prog metal, i simply listen to something like Symphony X. Seriously. It's also a tryhard music for some reason. So this band and Summoning is one of those i cant really appreciate. They make my favorite genre sound like a joke. Fuck it.

I would agree with you if not that 5.0 Katatonia. I know, i might sound stupid, but thats the way i get that piece of music. I get that different people like different black, but goddamn it, band like this is what makes this genre super cheesy, which in reality is not the case with good bands. Bands like Emperor, Dissection, Immortal is way better than this.

Yet you 5'd a cheesy band like Nightwish.

Neither do I. I don't think these guys even participated in the whole corpsepaint/kvlt aesthetic thing (?). And their music always came accross as pretty mature, even though they started young.

They were always more into the mythology and shit mike that. Their first couple albums are pretty raw, but I've never considered them a "kvlt" type of bm band.
