mmmh I won't deny the atmosphere since it could be more floaty and 'celestial', but to think that his other works don't have that Turner touch that made Isis, and not Palms, special is a bit wrong. plus the punk elements in Old Man Gloom and Sumac are what gets me going.

I think the band's post-Isis projects (Palms, Sumac, and Mustard Gas And Roses) and how they sound is an indicator to who contributed what to Isis.

Sumac is boring ye

how I got into it was loving The Ape of God and appreciating that approach to sludge Turner continued into Sumac
some of the riffs he's put together go beyond what he made with Isis. pretty intricate shit too considering he's the only guitarist and doesn't use much overdubs.

Not according to a Facebook post in early 2017. They said something like "Yes, we're still a thing"

I need to revisit Sumac, but The Deal did nothing for me when I heard it a few years ago.

IDK, What One Becomes was more immediate to me than The Deal which had to sink in with me quite a bit...which it did by the first time I saw Sumac tour where they played the The Deal in its entirety (minus the intro and closing ambient droney songs) and it was awesome.
