I was exactly the same with it. Even though I appreciated the album at first, it was an uncomfortable listen. Took a while to sink in properly but when it finally gets you, it grips you formidably. Then, seeing them live just cemented their status as heroes in my eyes. Converge are definitely a band that can really change and affect people which is an amazing feat for a band that relies so heavily on being cacophonous and aggressive.

it's so in-your-face. this is intense music,even after all these years...hatred manifest and it's so damn precise. from a technical perspective
so you can endeavor to respect and admire it from a metalcore/hardcore/mathcore perspective
or you can try and "get it" emotionally but i doubt you wanna be in that state of anger lol
