Hooper that's so fucking cool. How was it?
Yeah the songs here drag on too long and Maynard is extra-distant but I still like most of this

It's was pretty damn sweet. I was fucking stoked when they played it. Couple of teething issues in the middle of the track from memory, but to be expected when debuting a 15 minute song live.
Oh and, I know it's kinda silly and irrelevant, but the other thing that bothers me about this is album was the 13 year gap. If it was released 4 years after 10,000 days I might feel more tolerant of it's shortcomings lol

You are making that complaint over 6 years later, and I think it's the same phenomenon - that human time dimensions are inadequate frames for explaining and decrying cultural manifestations.

4 years or 13 may seem like an eternity in the fleeting perception of mortals. For me, they pass as mere moments, ephemeral as the turning of a page in an unending chronicle. Learn to live intensely, geek.

We notice that the more complex a song is, the lower your score. With better musical insight you would know that Pneuma is a 5.

Maynard: “let’s take the bridge of schism, play it at half speed, and just make a whole song out of it.”
Avg tool fan: “that is fucking brilliant.”
Idk I wasn’t there but that’s how i imagine it went down

Just relistened and I stand by my opinion
Also, this album in general has aged magnificently. It definitely stands shoulder to shoulder with classic Tool.

I didn't like it at first cause it felt like The Patient and Schism recycled (also bits from other older songs) but man... that song does things to me. Danny Carey...

Do you think if they didn't have to rely on Maynerd's availability that the trio of actually talented musicians could have pumped out some great stuff as a side band or in a Tool-adjacent band? Does Chancellor or Jones play in any other group/solo stuff?

Alright I just listened to it for the first time in years, cut that bitch down by like five minutes and we got something to work with. The bridge through the end is pretty solid but god the road to get there could fucking cure insomnia

@ Christ no. I don't think Maynard is the problem, it's everyone else's fault. Also the legal troubles didn't help them creatively

@Wildcard
I mean it's a pretty subdued and meditative album. That's what they went for. I get why you would find it boring
