Okay saying I don’t like them st all is a stretch but yeah those other five tracks are about a 3.

It makes sense because the chorus on Lookers is phenomenal and I think the one on Your Wild Years is a tremendous slog. That and I just find Lookers substantially more engaging on the whole. Black Mass is really boring too. This album travels an incredibly thin line much of the time between being engaging and catchy and just being boring (the boring part being those five tracks)

so why is Black Mass boring but then Growing On You -TSSF isn't? lol sorry I'm just trying to see the logic, like I feel both serve a similar purpose, even more so for Black Mass because it's placed at a great spot in the album that allows you to reflect and catch your breath for a minute before the craziness starts back up again. and emotional as fuck

The difference there is I just don’t find the instrumental-side of Black Mass nearly as effective as Growing On You. Not even close for me. That and Parker’s vocal delivery there (which is a huge part of why that song is so good) >>>>>>>>>>>>> vocals on Black Mass

Black Mass is awesome. Fun song to play too, i just do the open chords and sing it and my buddy does a guitar rendition of what the bass is doing while using a kick drum. So fun.

@Adolf yeah I’m honestly thinking of revisiting this in whole soon and potentially dropping it, but I did retract my statement in my next comment, saying those five are around a 3 for me. Mathematically, the average across all tracks comes out to right around a 4.

@Oni in the world where Growing on You and Black Mass are being compared lol. Sorry, just find the performance on TSSF’s track a lot more enjoyable. Those falsettos get me everytime

On a side note, I’m jamming Chamberlin Waits at the moment and it fucking bangs

ha uhhh I mean yeah I prefer Greg but Parker has more range than most male adults. Most of the vocal parts he wrote in WYDS are blisteringly high and aggressive, and there are plenty of songs where his flow runs laps around Greg's. Again, love Greg and usually prefer Greg. But don't be naive to enough to say Parker has nothing on him.

I feel like Parker has the same tone and cadence in every single TSSF song

listen to their new album and read your comment again.

even better - listen to their new album, then their debut, then re-read your comment like 3 times

Greg has way more personality imo, Parker sounds pretty generic as far as pop punk goes, not that I dislike his vocals, I do enjoy them quite a bit still.

yeah he has more personality, for sure.

although when it comes to stage presence and talking to the crowd, he's just about as bad as parker at this point. Tom carries their stage presence on his back
