Not sure, but when hetfield quieted the crowd down and asked who here is seeing them for the first time, the place erupted....overwhelmingly
When he asked of the old schoolers, the reaction was pale in comparison.

"Although i agree with you, tour wise, it wasn't their strategy this time around. 10 of the 18 songs played come off of 2 albums - the new one and the black album. Tons of new fans and no better way to do it than with the black album, for obvious reasons." -Titan
You are correct, but taking into consideration Metallica is seen as a nostalgia act nowadays and casual fans have usurped the position as the 'typical Metallica fan,' that isn't surprising. Truth be told, the "Black Album" wasn't as bad as Metallica fans make it out to be, but I don't believe it deserves as big of a reception as it currently gets. The "Black Album" more or less signified the death of thrash metal rather than the style becoming mainstream. Truth be told, it's best genres such as thrash stay underground or else it will turn into another fad. Metalcore and post-hardcore are prime examples as to what happens when something overstays its welcome. However, my point lies in the fact that while Metallica primarily consists of younger audiences now, it's best to have those fans appreciate where a band once was and experience how they arrived where they currently are today. Fans need to understand the journey behind the acts music and see how they changed over the course of their career. It's not serving them justice to start at their breakout album and jump ahead to now. Their older songs have very important messages that are very relevant nowadays. While I don't blame Metallica for utilizing the marketable approach for this tour, I feel like it would have been better to take a more nostalgic approach to introduce new fans to how Metallica changed metal.

True - but I can't expect much. The U.S. tour isn't anything less than fan service as it is. Metallica makes more money touring foreign nations, so this U.S. tour is for image rather than profit.

I like the songs here but still despise the production of modern Metallica. Just hate the sound. I feel like I could 4 this had it been recorded Justice-era, per se.

True that. I went through a long phase where I was listening to mostly country (what my fiancé likes). But the past few weeks I've been back into metal hard and with a vengeance m/

I'm not a country fan. I don't appreciate the style of it. I listen to Johnny Cash on occasion, but I can't get into country at all.
