Marigold, Absolomb, Lune, and Remain Indoors are the strongest highlights imo

I don't remember Remain Indoors well, but I agree with the others

I also really love Catch Fire, Prayer Position, and Flatline. Really the only stuff begging to drop this rating are the first two songs.

Can't stand Marigold, that chorus is awful, just completely out of place

I've been liking some ambient electronic here and there, good stuff, thanks

Yeah Marigold doesn't work for me either, the entire song feels off. Can't put my finger on it. I tend to skip that one.

Marigold's sorta the one that really caught me by surprise. I casually knew Pale Aura, Absolomb, and Lune from a stream I watched but didn't think about it much till I heard Spencer in From First to Last because my first impression of them wasn't good. I didn't like Make Total Destroy at all when I first heard it, and I still kinda don't think it's their best foot forward. Marigold was a bit of a difference maker for me because I was like "I like Spencer but I want to hear him doing more stuff like his work with FFTL" for a while.

Coming back to this album after P5 makes me appreciate it a lot more. The Way The News Goes, Flatline and Prayer Position are just deliciously fun times, something that seems absent from P5. Sure P5 goes BIGGER for the most part, but it would've benefitted with something more stripped back and boppy (not counting Silhouette because it's awful lol)

agreed if p5 is missing anything its a short sub-4 minute banger in the prayer position / make total destroy / 22 faces sorta vein.
even the shorter songs on p5 exceed 5 minutes

For what it lacked in more complex tracks, Alpha nailed those shorter tunes for me. It's the best album for that side of Periphery. Heck, I wouldn't be mad if they released an album just solely focused on that style of material. Like the complete opposite of P5.

still have bad memories of not liking make total destroy and forcing myself to tolerate it after I got into their other stuff because of the soaring cleans from Spencer

I want them to make an album based solely on Erised. I'm one of those people.

You have be special kind of stupid to be a Periphery fan and think this is lacking in any sort of way, let's be real
