Out of every Thrash example you give you give none Tech/Prog Thrash ones which it's so clearly influenced by? You suck.

In this case yes, it is. You can't tell me this is the same song and dance as a Morbid Saint or Dark Angel album.

Those 80's thrash records sound dated to me now. really bad production, shitty vocal performances. Guitar wise this new stuff just sounds the same to me, albeit tighter and slicker regarding recording. When it comes to dissecting albums and songs into specific genres based on riffs being marginally faster, "prog" time signatures or what kind of drum techniques are used, I find that stuff a little ridiculous at times. I'm not claiming I know everything about metal but I don't hear why this is so special to deserve the praise it's getting in comparison to other metal records old or new. That's the beauty of taste and preference i guess.

this is getting praise because it's a set of very tightly produced well-structured prog thrash songs with impressive variety in its execution
agree on old thrash records having bad vocals though

"agree on old thrash records having bad vocals though"
maybe if youre talking about thrash bands with singing, yeah, a lot of them had bad vocals. i think the harsh vocal styles fared better. Sodom, Demolition Hammer, Carnivore, etc. had awesome vocals.

Shame. Was really hoping that 4.5 would stick.
I still doing understand people bothering to rate this if they don't like metal. You can say almost anything is bad from a certain perspective.

Also, "I don't hear why this is so special to deserve the praise it's getting in comparison to other metal records old or new"
So that equals a 1.5 very poor album? That just tells me you dislike metal in general though...
I mean it can't be THAT much worse than Ride the Lightning, can it?

"So that equals a 1.5 very poor album? That just tells me you dislike metal in general though..."
nice assumption there! it's not baseless or disjunct at all!
