It's all about the scene & influence surrounding em

Siamese Dream is more psychedelic and has a more 'classic' rock vibe but it has a little grunge influence in there too

Not so much I'd ever label them grunge though, they're the dreaded 'alt rock' I guess...they've evolved more from Jane's Addiction than the Pixies

Yeah, Siamese Dream is kinda like a mix of grunge, shoegaze, progressive rock/metal, psychedelic rock, 70s arena rock, and a few other things thrown in for good measure

Siamese and the Smashing Pumpkins in general don't seem very grunge to me.

ya tbh Siamese doesn't sound that grunge. it's like people couldn't describe a sound for it so they just slapped grunge, even tho i'm sure there's better descriptors

I genuinely laughed in real life at that

I have yet to find a single rock radio-orientated album from the early 90's that is perfect. Not one.

Are you saying Siamese was made for the radio

na not really that was just a bad way of putting it tbh. more so t hat there isn't a popular 90's alt rock album I can think of that's perfect. not from aic, not from nirvana, not from soundgarden, not from radiohead, definitely not from pearl jam, and not from Smashing Pumpkins

Who knows tho Mellon Collie could be my first 5. doubt it

This is very close to perfect, there are a few throwaway moments towards the end of the album but that's about it. For a loud 'guitar based' album you can't ask for too much more than this, splits the difference between Black Sabbath and the late 80s alt bands.

Doof I generally agree but Francis Farmer I've always disliked, Radio Shifter is just ugh to me, and Ape, Rape Me, and Tourette's are just ok(but I like Rape Me especially)

like that's a pretty big chunk of the album. I am willing to let Rape Me's small problems go tho
