I listened to the new album again today, and it pains me to say it but sounded worse than the first listen. It's really lame & lazy how the opener, closer, & middle tracks are just different versions of the t/t and Infinite Content. This band has gone so downhill, though I do still really like most of Reflektor despite how overlong and bloated it is. Translates really well live too. Maybe they should've saved some of those songs for the new album, it sure could use some more material. Still not unenjoyable though, I'm thinking 2.5-3 rating.

It really only gets worse with listens. My first listen was abysmal; I really don’t know why. It was better on my second but each time since I find myself liking it less and less. I’ve heard it about 5 or 6 times in total. I’ve been trying to force myself to like it but I just don’t. I feel I can lock it in at a 2 unless the official quality is just mindblowing (which I do not foresee happening). I’ve definitely heard worse in my lifetime, but it’s still pretty bad and doesn’t even compare with any of their other stuff. It’s funny because I told myself not to base the new album from I Give You Power back earlier this year, but I feel as though it would almost fit right in the album. I kinda wished it had sounded like M83’s Junk like I thought might’ve been a possibility especially after “Signs of Life”
I didn’t particularly care for “Everything Now.” It was decent first time I heard it but it quickly became stale. It’s a pretty poor centerpiece as well, imo. It’s barely good enough on its own, let alone some grandiose vision for the central concept and some sort of trippy idea that it begins at the end and circles back around, in addition to that, taking one of the worst parts of the song and slowing it down to torturous levels on the final track. Also pretty sure the intro is almost identical to the outro except it has the ending chunk taken off of it. Infinite Contents, while also being complete filler tracks, strangely seem to have the best instrumentals here, though they have no replay value. This new album is just a mess. Idk what happened here, but it’s a mess. You aren’t lying! It needs more content!
I really love Reflektor. To me it’s almost on Funeral’s level. I get that to some it could be too much to take in in one sitting but I could much easier listen to Reflektor beginning to end than Everything Now, even though it’s almost twice as long.

Yeah this isn't that overlong and I find plenty to enjoy with every song, including the deluxe edition with six more songs, one being a Flashbulb Eyes remix. This also does have immaculate production and mixing. Could be a 4/5 tbh

Yeah. The production here is fantastic. "Awful Sound" is one of their best-sounding songs I can think of. I feel like I should 5 this honestly. Everything Now has me back on an Arcade Fire kick and I've been listening to this album since I decided to quit the new album now. "Normal Person" and "Here Comes the Night Time II" are really the only things here keeping me from 5'ing it, but I'll probably wind up doing it anyway. The last disc is basically a 5 straight down and same for the first except for like the last 2 or so songs before "Joan of Arc".

That's how my friend and I feel as well. The chorus of Normal Person never quite did it for me, but it was awesome live.
We Exist is good but as soon as it starts I just think of Billie Jean, since the rhythm section is so similar, especially the bass.
2nd disc of this is pretty consistently awesome yeah

Everything Now certainly grows. I really dig it. Especially the back half.

The back half of Flashbulb Eyes alone seems more thrilling to me lulz. I’ve got the day off and have been jamming to this album all morning. I’m definitely moving this up to a 5.

this is easily their 2nd best, some days I'd rather listen to it than Funeral

Idk. I’d say it’s a very underrated album. It makes me dance on a spiritual level and I don’t know really any other albums that do that.

I’m surprised it’s still hanging in the high 70’s on meta. I don’t think it’ll last much longer tbh

Crawl's ranking on point.
I'm jamming Everything Now more, and trying not to give in just b/c they're one of my favorite bands, but the album is growing on me a bit, and flows well, with good production/mixing. It's still disappointing, but the second half is really solid, and the music remains interesting and enjoyable throughout, despite some lame parts.
Along with their social media posts, I know they're going for sarcasm and irony with this, so it helps to keep that in mind (also helps to skip some of the first half of Creature Comfort).
I'm hoping their next album is better than Everything Now or this. They could really use a new musical direction after 3 albums of the 80s rock influences.

Honestly I think the band should just stop. I haven't heard Everything Now yet but everything tells me it's going to be average or decent at best. It's been clear since Reflektor that the band has some internal tension and that Win is an overbearing asshole. Most members have some sort of other solo project at this point. I doubt they're really working as a group anymore. The fame has gotten to them, sadly. I doubt they'll ever make anything truly great again.

Least favorite modern indie band, hope they break up soon. Just wrapped up listening to the new one and it was as horrific as expected.
I feel the backlash will just fuel their egos though, make them feel "misunderstood" in their artistic genius.

I hope the next album is as good as this one tho. Funeral = Reflektor > Suburbs > Neon Bible >>>>>> Everything Now but okay
I am almost agreeing that they stop. I feel that Everything Now has shown us that they have just run out of ideas and are incapable of doing another album. In 4 years we get an album that has a ton of filler. Unfortunately though they are not going to lay themselves to rest because they’ve got a 2 album contract with Columbia so another one will happen. I’m terrified to know what it holds.

Ugh...hate when artists start to feel like their shit doesn't stink. Hope you're wrong about this, but the writing on the wall (and the singles) suggest to me that this will be a huge let down.

"Chemistry" made my jaw drop at how awful it was. It boggles the mind that they thought that song was fit for release.
