Yep he really only had the slightest bit of trouble with some of the Rage for Order stuff where Geoff was a maniac and just living at the top of his range like Walk in the Shadows or w/e

First time I caught them I had really hyped myself up, thinking I'd finally get to see some justice done to these songs, kept myself in the dark with the setlist and had really fallen in love with the new stuff. They took the stage with Prophecy and my jaw dropped, first that they'd have the guts to open with a fuckin' bonus track from 35 years ago, but also that Parker was hyped and jumping around, Whip and Eddie looked revitalized, and Todd absolutely slayed this song that had an almost mythological status in my mind. Went on to play a great classic era set.

I think after that I started to really see Todd as a guy who deserved to be mentioned in the top thirty to fifty metal vocalists of all time, Crimson Glory stuff notwithstanding, as he had the guts to take the two most impossible frontman positions in all of metal and resoundingly delivered.

well Geoff is coming through my neck of the woods and is playing this in full, I assume with some hits too. I really never thought I’d get the chance… even if his vocals are shot and the band itself are just some cornball dudes, I gotta go. My old man loved these guys and got me into them, I know he’d never let me hear the end of it if i skipped out on this. He followed them around for a few shows during the Building Empires tour and talked about it fucking endlessly.

I don’t know. I don’t really miss him, he was an asshole and really just did nothing but make my life harder. But he’s my dad. I’m just blabbing and don’t really have a point. This record is just so important to me, I don’t really believe there’s anything waiting for us after this, but I’d like to think I’ll be carrying him there with me. I still love ya old man, you fuckin insane dickhead.

i just watched his performance from a week ago or so on youtube and couldn't stand it.....he had 9 people on stage including some chick dancing around singing background vocals.....the image was awful and his larger than life attitude got old 20 years ago

hard pass

It's just wild to me that so many older fans still cling to Geoff Tate like a life raft instead of checking out any of QR's new stuff, and still insist that Toddryche is not "real Queensryche." Like, are you really gonna tell me you'd rather listen to Dedicated to Chaos than The Verdict (or any of the Toddryche albums for that matter)? Get the fuck outta here

For the record, I feel the same about the "no Rev, no A7x" faction of the Avenged Sevenfold fanbase. It's so stupid and petty, lol

Also, @wildcard, just to be clear, none of that first paragraph was aimed at you. I'm just talking about the fanbase in general

No I know… but also he’s playing Mindcrime in full and the actual band can’t do that, I know they have some amazing albums other than that but man this record is fucking peak

It's truly an abomination. All respect to those fucking dweebs he has playing with him, surely for pennies and hopes that it will be a launching pad, but they look like the lamest, tackiest cover band out there.

The only thing more annoying than the state of Geoff is the legion of boomer morons in their comment sections shitting on the real queensryche endlessly and saying his is the only TRUE QR.

Well I copped a ticket… and funny enough mom wanted to go too, she and my dad went to one of their shows back in the day. I just don’t really have a choice here. It’s at a good venue, and while totally agree that the whole getup is corny as hell… I mean that’s just metal baby. Loud and fast guitars coming on from guys with perms and fedoras. This thread ultimately convinced me to pull the trigger.

I really can’t stress enough how important this is to me. Like I said, my old man was a real piece of shit, damn he had some great taste from time to time. Very excited for this show.

This album means the world to me, and I know my dad would be giving me shit for the rest of my natural life if I skipped out on this.

Really hoping to hear some Rage for Order tracks too, Walk in the Shadows and Neue Regel are just as good as anything here.

Neue Regel is their 2nd best track ever, imo. And yeah, I think if the last couple years have shown us anything its that we have to jump on the chance to see the legends when we can.

Maybe us old heads (idk if I even qualify as that but I've been a QR fan since 1993 which seems quite long) just need to relax a bit. We always knew he wasn't really a metal fan, and I suspected as much of DeGarmo too who completely abandoned us nearly 30 years ago now. That's almost certainly an integral part of the magic in their music. So even if it disgusts me that he's presenting as a cabaret show, he has every right to do it. And big props to him for bringing his voice back to a serviceable state.

Bro I would give my left nut for Chris and Geoff to just go back to Queensryche for one last tour.

I get people like Toddryche and all that but fuck me man, imagining these Geoff shows with Chris is so sick
