It's so funny to me when people say that the reason they hate this album is because it's not a "true" metal album or whatever.It's not mean't to be taken like that and if you go into this record thinking that then you've already disappointed yourself.I loved this album when it came out and I still love it today.The Hunter in my opinion was definitely their fall from grace to me.

This has so many comments its unreal, but I think you really captured the way many ppl seem to feel about this album. I was truly bummed when this album dropped after the immaculate Blood Mountain and all the Brenden O'Brien hype. I was totally miffed at the amateur song-writing blunders (such as the ones you mentioned with The Czar), or just the epic mismatch of approach and substance which you have so poetically captured in this review. This album will always mark the point in time where one of my favourite bands became a band that simply made a few of my favourite albums.

No BM wasn't a return to form, it just upped the ante in several ways from Leviathan.

and the Czar is an over-inflated mess that, as a whole, does not live up to the greatness of some of its parts. Why is the post-chorus repeated at the end of the song after a decent wind down from the solo? A solo that sounds like a war amp playing guitar hero on expert with a few tasty bends thrown in to try and pass it off as having feeling.
