They've always been metalcore and yeah band sucks now. The only reason they probably don't like their earlier material is cause they can't replicate it and that's what their fans want/keep asking for. Next they'll be saying they wanted to go for a more mature sound

Heartburn isn't the best, but An Open Letter is incredible. The build up makes it one of the best tracks on the album.

Realistically, THAN is not a bad album by any stretch. I just think it pales as a follow-up to hollow crown, and in comparison to their other works.

yeah theres nothing bad about THAN, it just took so many people by surprise after Hollow Crown so there was this backlash
i hated it when it came out, but whenever i revisit it its always better than i remember
