I guess I'm just picky when it comes to production
If it's open-sounding and spacey (or electronic) like this album, I just don't like the production to sound cramped up. It doesn't bother me if the album is supposed to sound evil or sludgy.
I also can't stand listening to MP3's that are 128 kbps, and I try to get them all in 320 kbps. Focus makes me feel like I'm listening to something that's 128* kbps, except during the clean moments. I've just gotten used to albums sounding clear over time.

The growls aren't that great, but I wouldn't say they're horrible either. It wouldn't matter if they left them off though. They don't really have an effect at all.
