I disagree, though I do like ...And Justice For All a bit more than this. it's a controversial opinion but I do think they only ever really had one truly great album in Ride The Lightning. Kill 'Em All captured a similar energy but was never as well refined.

The increasing focus on melodicism rather than just being balls out thrash revealed a lot of weaknesses. I'm pretty sure this had to do with Hammett's influence over the band, later on what I consider the worst elements of albums like RTL and MOP seemed to be what they focused on more and more. This feels like an awkward transitional album, in a way. Not that they actually ever made it anywhere comfortable afterwards, if you ask me.
