I think we've generally turned the corner around here toward acknowledging that if its on this album, it fucking slays.

Yeah I think every song has been raved about numerous times through these 78 pages.

"Classic example of a band having years to develop a great first album and then never spending enough time to craft something that lives up to it."

If I'm not mistaken, some songs were written in studio because they gave themselves a deadline and then got up against it. With TEOATTC they took more time (I remember hearing them discuss this in an interview as a teen and big fan).

Some songs on LD50? Well that would completely ruin how I thought this thing came to be. If "some songs" = Dig, that wouldn't blow my mind, but I can't fathom how much else on this album could be scraped together quickly. MAYBE Internal Primates.

The interludes on this album are worthless. I bet those were conceived in studio.

I remember something on a TEOATTC DVD where Chad and Matt were eating at a table and discussing stuff, and I definitely remember them saying something about setting their own deadline, and while making TEOATTC they didn't feel the same pressure. I'd think that makes it more interesting, not less, considering how revered this album is for its genre.

I actually think this is one of those few times where the interludes work. They really contribute to the album and the atmosphere.

Less pressure with this album. But after this album was such a success, they had a huge amount pressure and much at stake. As a result, I think TEOATTC suffered a bit from being too glossy, overproduced and try hard. You could tell they were trying so hard to create another masterpiece but LD was lightning in a bottle. I still like the album a lot actually but it is def a pale shadow.

So, they had pretty much unlimited time to make LD50, but it was crunch time for End of All Things. They did that album in a very short period of time. "Drummer Matt McDonough stated "We had all the time in the world to write our first album, but for the second one, we had about a month. I'm amazed how quickly we came up with the material.""

Vocalist Chad Gray said "The making of The End of All Things to Come was an exercise in deadline management for the band. We didn't want to take much more than two years between albums and since we were on the road for such a long time that really didn't leave us with a whole lot of time to make this record. We wrote and rehearsed for four months and then spent another four months to record and master the entire album. The pressure made us focus instead of fold."[6] With the creation of the album's artwork, Mudvayne hoped to create the band's "black album"
