It's when that haunting guitar line comes in about a minute in omgggg
Mike's vocals on here are wonderful too, so many memorable choruses/passages of lyrics.

For me it's when Mikael's singing "stain me, save me, take me to my home" over that descending bassline... it all melds together so well

This is easily the best non-metal album they've made.

This and Sorceress are pretty damn close for me (both are 4/5s in my book). But yeah, this does rule quite a bit

Sorceress has some amazing moments but is easily my least fave Opeth.

Sorceress is good too, PC and Heritage are both meh for me. Not awful, just average.

Deliverance is my least favorite because it's a case where I literally love half of the album and can't stand the other half, lol. I love the title track, A Fair Judgment, and believe it or not, Master's Apprentices (it grew on me a lot over the years, even though I'm still not too fond of the main riff). But Wreath sucks ass (I'm starting to agree with JamieTwort on that one), the closer is incredibly weak, and I wish the interlude was fleshed out much more

I will give this another go for you guys

Every song on Deliverance is fantastic imo, minus By the Pain which is ok.

Wreath starts out so well, but to me the slow riff that encompasses most of the remainder of the song just becomes so dull and stretched way too far. And the solo seems pretty out of place to me too

Wreath has amazing guitar leads though, meaning the ones played on the higher guitar strings, not the main heavy guitar riff. Everything about it is at least solid though, but yea Deliverance is their weakest heavy release. This will always be a classic.

havent changed my mind in a decade about this being their worst
agreed about deliverance though

I like this more, but Deliverance slays.

In hindsight, Deliverance looks like a classic in comparison to the non-metal Opeth. It's maybe the best entry point into Opeth methinks.

I could probably agree with that.
