I fucked uni off in '98-'99 it wasn't for me. The bullshit had set in by then believe it or not. I'm pretty sure 'David Beckham studies' had become available.

Before then school was a channel to steer children to something that would accommodate their ability. The cream went to uni, the switched on went into banking, more or less everyone else went into manual labour or started up on their own.

The idiots would have you believe that this restricted opportunities.

The only thing it restricted was lining other people's pockets.

Conmaniac just won haha

Also half the arguments here seem increadbly anecdotal and subjective rather than based in any solid fact. Seems to be the issue whenever you get into this kind of generational debate.

I agree, so the argument essentially becomes based around what individuals have experienced, which is often unrepresentative but the individual often argues it as if it was a universal experience that is representative. Hence the ridiculous nature of having this kind of debate.

It's the instantaneousness of absolutely everything. I'm obviously pissing around on a few things I say but I genuinely do feel that the internet, e-mails, downloads and all that goes with it (despite the obvious advantages) have a fucking lot to answer for.

Definitely, it's just as you turn into a miserable old cunt you realise how much of a spoilt young cunt you once were. Perpetual state of cuntiness dude. This album doesn't help things one jot.

I agree with you to an extent Zak I've just never understood why you feel this album represents this 'brat' generation.

World population is currently 7.4 Billion, Generation Z is 1995 - 2010 so I'd say there's at least a billion born during that time anyway enough with that shit. Personally I base my opinion on albums around the way they sound not what they represent about birth generations

Even if you accept all that shit about generation X (which I don't) I don't see how this album represents that.

Don't know how this album relates to any of those generation related arguments. Shit, I don't know anyone else in person who has even heard of Brand New.
