Yeah gotta echo that sentiment. I've heard the albums begore and after this and they were both very average. This may as well be a completely different band

Echoing the lightning in a bottle sentiment, I mean everything else they’ve done is absolutely fine, great even, but this is on another level entirely.

Only other one of theirs I've heard is OHPS, thought it was a perfectly serviceable screamo album but I forgot everything about it within like an hour

Yeah I don't think their other work is bad per se but this record fucking blasts them out of the water tbh

Odd How People Shake has some incredible guitarwork, I do prefer this but Odd is still a memorable classic of this era as well.

Odd How People Shake is pretty messy and has a lot of cool ideas running through it executed without much finesse

Art Damage is them finessing that chaotic raw energy

This album is them moving past it to the 'next level' for lack of a better phrase

its got some cool ideas it just sounds a tad lazy compared to this one you know? i think i even remember reading/hearing an interview with them where they said that because this was such an effort to produce and make, they sort of wanted to go a bit easier on the next one and make a more straightforward album

it has some cool moments but the lyrics feel like a step down and the 'experimental' stylings are choppier and bit more like 'fuck it this weird sound is cool lets throw it in' rather than the meticulous arranging on this

but i wasnt in the band and havent listened to the self titled in years so wtf do i know
