I remember getting good grades in Admin Law and little to nothing else about the class.

"does fans of this band still pretend that this album isn't glam metal because they like it"

Lmao. Do detractors of this album still think this is glam metal? Because it really isn't.

What is glam metal?

A genre defined largely by its aesthetic, with an image influenced by that of 70's glam rock; make-up, glitter, hairspray etc., and that musically has a focus on accessibility, pop hooks and power ballads.

G'N'R at the time were seen as an antithesis of this within the 80's hard rock scene.

Ah, I can see why Axl's use of hairspray in the '80s confuses people.

Band's like Iron Maiden used hairspray in the 80's to be fair. But yeah anyone with a basic understanding of the 80's rock/metal scene can see how G'N'R stood out from the glam/hair metal scene.

Honestly, it's no big deal if GnR or Skid Row are considered glam/hair metal. Appetite and Slave to the Grind slay regardless. And there are literally no power ballads on here.

a lot of which this album has ahah.

i mean, it is a good album and i definitely appreciate the fact that it got me into rock music when i was about 9 or so, but parts of this have not aged well at all.

Not sure how you would define a power ballad, but a mid-tempo love song is hardly a power ballad.

"a lot of which this album has ahah."

For the most part this really doesn't fit any of that. It was hard to get away from all of those things whilst being an 80's hard rock band but G'N'R managed to distance themselves from most of it.
