The dreaded downward rating trend has kicked in for this on RYM in a big way looking at the graph...will drop out of their top 100 in approx five years I'd imagine, maybe earlier

Might end up a lesser cult Neutral Milk Hotel type of album I'd guess, if lucky

This is definitely a strong contender to be in my Top 100 the rest of my life. This is brilliant

@Doof: this is exactly what I expected, it doesn't strike me as an album that really will have that lasting power tbh

This is, in fact, very Caucasian sounding. Still a really good record though. It’s hard to really think of stuff like this as post punk though. Really stretching the definition. I guess it’s just because it’s part of that Windmill scene that it gets lumped in with more punky sounding bands.

An extension of bands like the Maccabees who were better.

This is growing on me. Snow Globes still reigns supreme and the middle section causes the overall to feel a little overlong, but it’s mostly v good from an individual cuts perspective

must’ve been that climb up the housing ladder that did it for me

I suppose the album ‘restarts’ with Mark’s Theme. The closing triplet (+ Concord) are the essentials and I guess that makes up a fairly hefty chunk of the runtime. Haldern and Bread Song in isolation, probably compete with Blade, not sure they usurp it tho

tl;dr: Snow Globes, Basketball Shoes, Concord // Blade, Bread Song, Haldern. Then the rest

The top tier carries it somewhat, but I’d hesitate to call anything here poor. It maybe just feels bloated overall, especially when the cuts that warrant their runtimes are the longer ones, weirdly. Unusually balanced album

I’m definitely underrating this. It deserves more just for the highlights

We have some new instagram activity 👀 seems to just be a playlist they put together, but seems strange to make a post with todays date just for a playlist. Perhaps something more is coming?
