i get that it's trendy to downplay how good sunbather really is but when did envy become some kind of gods in the scene? let's face it they've been having a hard time trying to recreate the magic of a dead sinking story

envy aren't a pedestal band for me and they're too corny to be particularly amazing at post-rock when they make that their main focus across whole songs (counterpoint: same goes for deafheaven x2 phwoar momma)
*but* at their best, their 2 great records are a template for how to turn ye olde frantic emotional intensity into huge sweeping moments without losing a speck of grit, and i'd strongly dispute whether deafheaven's overpolished cinematics have done more than scratch at that outside of a couple of trax
