Dude LFG Tundra thinks the new one blowz (cause it does)! All is right in the world. M///
Seriously one of the most generic and overproduced and cringey monstrosities the world has ever had the displeasure of listening to. Just absolute doo doo.

Tbh, Erra have nothing more to say with their music, they did the technical metalcore thing, now they're kinda lost as what to do, so they decided to trend hop and do the alt metal thing that Spiritbox are doing, cant knock the grind, but the album is just complete sellout mode to me

Despite this being a bit scathing, I pretty much agree with the sentiment. Whole thing feels stale in the songwriting department. There’s just some moments of beauty on it I vibed with.

idk i still think it mostly sounds like erra. rumor of light is undeniably just a spiritbox song though lol
it would be rad if dan had the ear for harmonies that grant/carson did because i keep expecting to hear particular patterns underneath these parts that don't quite resolve right

loved Drift, maybe that explains why I like the new record haha

I believe what makes Spiritbox stand out is their extreme good cop bad cop formula, by that I mean their ability to balance between heavy and radio-friendly tracks, keeping both sides of their fanbase simultaneously happy. However, in contrast, I felt on Cure, I was disappointed on both sides of the spectrum. On one hand, I was disappointed with the lack of technicality that I had come to expect from them. On the other hand, the heavier side of the album didn't live up to self-titled. I had hoped that the band would bring back their earlier Drift sound while still maintaining the heavy elements of selt-titled. This would have created a similar Spiritbox compromise situation.

honestly jamming this again and i j dont think they could have made a better album than this in this vein. as much as i should lament the loss of songs like my beloved remnant, electric twilight, vanish canvas, etc, like those songs are just too perfect that i think i'd have struggled with another lesser derivation of them. that's why i don't like pale iris since it cuts way too close to s/t territory without doing much of anything interesting until the breakdown
fair play that others aren't digging it i get it but even as maybe planet earth's biggest self titled fan i am so glad i love it and can take it in on it's own terms separate from this album

Nothing was ever going to be as good as the s/t. I like Pale Iris for being the only song on Cure reminiscent of this album, but a whole album of s/t part 2 but not as good definitely would've been way less of a hit for me. I view Cure as less of a devolution or attempted continuation and more of a left turn. I still fuck with the album, even if it objectively is not as good as the s/t

why the fuck would erra try and be spiritbox lmao. That's taking a huge backwards step in the musical world.
New album might be a bit of a grower

dude, they took more than a few pointers from spiritbox in the new album, Past Life Persona sounds just like Too Close / Too Late, the synth plus chug combo in Slow Sour Bleed sounds just like Rule of Nines, and in general, most songs are the formula of songs like Secret Garden, production-wise too

Man can't wait for the endless Spiritbox comparisons when Rumor of Light is the only song that sounds like them lol

what I'm saying is they can do that but not lose what makes them Erra, and that's the technicality, dropping that component brings them one step closer to being a carbon copy of every other band (if they aren't already)

Ironically though the new one kinda feels like Drift part 2 but mega dumbed down and fads/tropes thrown in.
Like other than the production it’s not much like this album at all
