Maybe it's from overplaying the early released tracks, but I find myself starting this album constantly at Dormouse.

Dormouse, Tortoises, Flee...
I'm digging these songs that have these weird codas and tempo changes.

Dormouse, Flee & New Wine are my favourites. The opener serves it's purpose but doesn't really go anywhere, Julia is decent enough but suffered from repeated listening (& I didn't hear it as a single) & the third track (forget what it's called) is probably the weakest on the album.

New Wine's definitely top tier.

My only issue with that track is how it ends abruptly, seems to be set-up for a barnstorming crescendo of a last chorus with shouted vox (or similar).

| |
No way man, shouted vox would have ruined that song - it conveys everything it needs to and doesn't need any more overstatement! It could have done with a quiet outro though, agreed that it's pre abrupt

I don't like it when songs seem to build up to a climax & then never fully get there (*insert obvious crude analogy right here*). I enjoy it nonetheless, but it left me wanting more. I agree that an outro could've done the job too & maybe it wouldn't be so apparent if there was one.

This is good but not a 5.
In fact beyond my initial likeness for it, it really hasn't grown that much.

First jam was probably the best for me, maybe I was just surprised it was somewhat decent (expected to dislike this honestly).

I also would like a flowchart for me thanks

Julia might be one of my fav tracks of this year

I think the song I appreciate most here is Michael Row Your Boat Ashore but the one I like the most is New Wine. It reminds me of Birnam Wood which was my favorite from Pale Horses...idk what it is here. Flee's also up there.

Still feel like August 6th is the song of the year, but there are several here that could compete. Gonna start writing blurbs for a SOTY list. It has been a great year.

It has been a really great year for the most part

Last year had more 5s or near-5s but this year has so many 4.5s and high 4s for me...and I've also listened to way more music than last year.
my SOTY is currently Contretemps by Rolo Tomassi but there's some stiff competition

Julia is perfect

This year has been incredible for me. Started real slow but soon picked up and it hasn't slowed down yet.

I don't have any 5's from this year and only three 4.5's but I have thirty 4's!

I think I have 4 5’s from this year: Little Dark Age, 7, Ordinary Corrupt Human Love, and this. This summer was a little blah, but spring and fall have been pretty awesome. I think I only had like 2 last year and kept only like 1. I don’t think I’ve had so many 5’s since 2013
