"I read Cas's post earlier and was like, "should I tell him he's wrong or should I wait for someone else to do it?"
I mean, Scurrilous is also the compositionally superior to everything this band has ever recorded but I'm sure you'll disagree with that as well.

Yeah, that's an atrocious opinion.

Really, that album was just all the promise they showed on No Stars over Bethlehem coming to fruition. Sure, they made a considerable misstep with Fortress but still.

How is Volition better, Low?

It has slightly better lyrics.

I pretty much never factor lyrics in with this band.

That's a shame, because they crafted a narrative masterpiece on this album.

I thought they were OK but Kezia never really struck me that potently as a concept release and all of Scurrilous seems beyond much of what they had done before or since compositionally. Tracks like Tapestry, Tandem, Moonlight and Termites don't come from a 3 album.

Yeah, basically.

I'm not as familiar with Scurrilous, as the lyrics made me never want to listen to the album again (I seem to remember a song about pornography?), and the music wasn't good enough to dissuade me from that. Perhaps I will try it again soon, though.

That's why post-metal is the most honest genre, they just drop the lyrical façade entirely and just go raaaaaaaahh aaaaaahh rrraaaaaaah.

Post-metal vocalists are beyond irritating, which is a shame because the music is usually fantastic.

Agree to disagree chief.

"It has slightly better lyrics."
You talking about Volition? That album has songs about Newfoundland and god damn pitbulls lmao

Hey, the Newfoundland song is my favorite on that album.

I like it too, but it took a while to grow on me. Still think the lyrics are kinda dumb though. The one about dogs is even dumber imo

I declare this album...progressive post-hardcore.

Listened to this album twice in a row this morning. I think I’m about to listen to it again rn
