"Mikael on extreme metal: "I don't listen to new extreme metal. I think it's dull...I can't get impressed with bands that are fast...brutality for me does nothing. I've been into the whole death metal scene for fucking ages, so it's not happening that I'm going to be impressed by brutal music anymore."

^agreed

"Morningrise" is far and away the best thing Opeth have put out in my opinion because it seamlessly blends genres. "In My Time Of Need" was my personal favorite song they did though because of the emotion behind it.

"Blackwater Park" feels too bloated and long, some of the songs stretch for way too long. The centre part of the title track is unnecessary and disrupts the flow of that song, which does not need to be 12 minutes. "Bleak" has a nice blues part in the middle bit that unfortunately takes too long to return to the heavy side of the band. What was the point of nearly four minutes of "Dirge For November" aside from to bore the listener? "Harvest" is too watered down and sanitized to make for single material, and "The Drapery Falls" is far too lengthy and the repetition in the chords at the start is dull and uninspired to say the least
