Guess I'm gonna have to actually check out this band now, been wanting to get into more black metal so I suppose this is as good of a place as any.

This kind of sounds like a more melodic Bergtatt, I can dig it
|
| |
Pale Folklore sounds more like Bergtatt

yeah i think they band actually said that there were 3 main albums that they drew influence from on PF and Bergatt was one of them. Don't remember the other 2. I think one of them was an early katatonia album. could be wrong though

i jammed folklore last night for the first time in a while actually and was gonna bump it today
its kinda a mess. the musicianship is pretty bad and it causes the album to be pretty homogenous
they definitely improved with this one
|
| |
I dont see how its a mess. It flows perfectly for me, and is the best representation of Agalloch's sound.

Yeah dude idk about the whole mess thing. It's a lot more raw (if you wanna say that) than anything else they've done.

a lot of the transitions are pretty rough. and most of the songs are focused around 2 or 3 minor chords, it gets boring and repetitive. also i think they integrated the folky acoustic stuff much better on this album and beyond. and the vocals/lyrics are so damn cheesy
i dont hate the album btw i just think their stuff after it is much more accomplished

Obviously I don't agree, but that's fair enough. ;]

opinions and such. this is easily my fav agalloch

I kind of agree with clim. there's a lot of random transitions that just don't work. whereas this flows pretty much perfectly until A Desolation Song
