this album has great pacing. makes for an easy listen compared to Fas, even though I probably like Fas bette overall.

Pretty much all of their albums do because they're written as more of a story, and the music serves more as a narration to the lyrics to tell the story, instead of just music for the sake of music. A lot of their albums lyrics are basically all one long story. Their last record The Synarchy of Molten Bones is literally one long poem. The lyrics really take precedent in Deathspell's music.

I mean, the trilogy is largely composed of excerpts from the writings of Georges Bataille, so the story arises from the synthesis of those ideas. each song on Fas begins and ends with a quote from the same text, so it's cyclical in nature and that's reflected in the songwriting. it's more a setting of philosophy than original poetry.

The way it's crafted makes it end up mostly as a long form poem. They may take pieces from literature but it's put there to serve as one part of their own narrative. Whatever the original intent was from the literature, it usually ends up taking on a new meaning in the context of Deathspell Omega's ideology.
Also, the last record in particular, is pretty much one long poem. To the point that the last two songs on that record are one long song, lyrically.
Georges Bataille is only one source, by the way. This record takes a lot from The Divine Paraclete by Thomas Scott Preston and a 17th century Catholic prayer book. As well as just loads of quotes from the bible.

the bible stuff is actually pretty cool. it's kind of like Light Bearer, where they use the original text but frame it in a new way to tell the narrative from a different point of view. again, Satan is not evil; he is a tragic figure.

Its just my opinion boys and girls. You're welcome to disagree but would be cool if you gave an actual argument so we could hear both sides without just resorting to kiddie insults no?

You're not in a position to be so condescending when you implied there are objective means of judging good/bad art and then played the opinion card ~lol~

You can play the sick put down game all day but in the end you're that guy who apparently has no difference between your nieces pasta drawing on the fridge and a Turner right?

i kind of agree with him, though, I mean what if something is objectively badly painted for example like it was supposed to be a certain way but the artist isn't talented enough to do it. you could argue that the artist sucks
