Following a tough few years, Kanye West uses his egotistical self-indulgence to advantage; delivering an extraordinarily ambitious, expansive & complex 5th LP in 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy'. Kanye especially shows his production wares here, with the highlights impressing in their stimulating unpredictability. Unfortunately, this stubbornly overlong 69 minutes contains far too many frivolous moments, inconsistent lyrics, average vocals & a ridiculously overblown guest list. With a multitude of groundbreaking, forward-looking ideas however, it will be interesting to see how this fascinating album ages. Recommended Tracks: All of the Lights, Runaway, Power & Blame Game.

Hey, I like hip-hop... Although I prefer my vocalists/rappers to be wayyy better than Kanye.

I actually liked your review concentrating on the music Adam... There is some top-notch production on show here. But I do believe the album is severely overlong & contains a fair bit of filler.

There is no doubt that parts of this is groundbreaking & will be influential, but then again he tries so much stuff, no wonder. I would have preferred that he be more choosey, if that makes sense.

I've never really seen length as being a barrier to an album's brilliance. If it's boring, then fair enough. If it contains filler, then fair enough. But I think if an album is superb throughout - like I hold this to be - then it really doesn't matter how long it is.

i think the production is what holds this together.
this, musically, is the most ambitious album hip hop has ever seen, but kanye west isn't much of a rapper and sum songs have shitty guest in it( fergie).

The only thing this album is missing is a Taylor guest spot.

"Missing" implies the album would benefit from it.
