lol Flubber was cool.
As for this, I actually haven't heard Kezia outside of No Stars Over Bethlehem. I think guitar sweeping is one of the coolest things in music. I have only listened to this about 2 and a half times all the way through. I will listen again, and the musicianship alone will probably higher my rating.

Yeah, please don't get me wrong, guitar sweeping is pretty cool, and they do it really well on this album. My impression after only one listen is that it's spread out too heavily. The small doses of brilliance I heard on Kezia are what made it awesome. When you use sweeping in the back of the vocals in half of your songs though, I'm not sure if thats necessarily better.

uh there isnt that much sweeping, there's just as much tapping and pulloffs.

How is "The Dissentience" awkward? It's the raddest tune on the album imo.
"so cry ghost babay!!"

Picked this one up a week ago after seeing how well it was received here. Sweet album for sure. The songs kinda sound samey to me at times but it's good enough that it doesn't take away too much in my opinion.

Still so good. This is still most definitely an album of the year contender.

That is how I feel too, but they flow so nicely together that it isn't that bad. This Message Edited On 04.20.08

Kezia's better but a slight step down from brilliance is still awesome.

Albums grown on me slightly since Ive gotten it. The styles have grown on me but some songs have quickly worn off, I'm sticking with a permanent 4.

This album just doesn't grip me like Kezia did. It's much beter as far as technicality is concerned but the new topic of choice limits the emotional connection I can make with it.
Fortres=Wow that was badass...:goes to play it again:
Kezia=Wow that was intense...:goes to play it again:
Both albums are amazing, but Kezia brings with a beauty that was lost somewhere with the technicality and concept.

I stumbled across a review of this cd here on Sputnik a few weeks ago and purchased it recently. At first I thought these guys were trying to show up Between the Buried and Me's COLORS, but further listens diprove that first impression. I like the chaotic sound and I'm thoroughly impressed by the obvious talent that these guys all have and how seamlessly they alternate between influences of The Mars Volta, Iron Maiden, and Dream Theater.
Favorite part has to be the Nintendo keyboards in "Limb from Limb."

Seems like the most un-dramatic rating possible.
