True yes, they had a certain something in the 90s that they traded for something else in the 00s and 10s. It depends on your tastes which something you prefer really, both of these faces are amazing.

Super true. Very consistent and absurdly high quality throughout their entire discog. Contradictions included, which, like you said, rules.

Trif's love for this band leaves me a) confused and b) reluctant to completely write them off as potential Demon-core. Admittedly Chaosphere is pretty good and this is decent.

OH MAN DEMON there is nothing like these guys and as soon as you've heard Futile Bread Machine (the Future Breed Machine remix they've released) and/or seen the New Millenium Cyanide Christ vid with the screaming in a pan and air guitaring/drumming in the tour bus you're in LOVE! 💖🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈

One of my fave bands ever and have been so for fifteen years by now.

Their oftentimes suffocating heaviness combined with a very groove-orientated approach bears aesthetic similarities to death metal, which makes sense when considering their thrash origins, or so I'm lead to believe anyway (because I've not heard Contradictions).

The fact you (Trif) like these guys more than me is quite the conundrum. I know you dig some metal, but honestly didn't think this would be your flavour. Goes to show music works in mysterious ways sometimes.

I've also noticed Meshuggah do have a much broader appeal than one might imagine, which I find frustrating because if they were as niche as their sound suggests they might be, then I could forgive myself more easily for not 'getting' it.

Forgive yourself.

Do a discog run.

Repeat.

contradictions sounds like all the weirdest ideas from late 80s metallica taken one step further
