'slaughter of the soul >'
Damn, my poor poor eyes. Are we still talking production wise? I mean the album is merely ok either way but still.

well ill say the production, in terms of being tasty and harsh but also being clear is pretty great, but yeah song v song this kills it imo

Not even close to being the best metal album of 1993.

The best metal in 1993 are 2 of my top 3 albums of all time. Pretty amazing:
Coroner - Grin
Voivod - The Outer Limits

Maybe not the best (not with Death having released "Individual Thought Patterns" and Cynic with "Focus"), but definitely near the top. I don't know where you're getting this 'not even close' shit from ;)

I agree Willie , this album is bad-ass.

The Outer Limits is an underrated album. That was the first Voivod album I ever heard. My grandmother bought me the CD for my birthday because the cover (and the entire booklet) was 3D and came with 3D glasses and she thought it had to be something a teenager would like. Ha ha.

Yea man, was a cool concept. I still have the original cd packaging and glasses to this day. The album has since been remastered. Good luck finding a copy though ;)

Considering that In the Forest of the Dreaming Dead, The Somberlain, Skydancer, Individual Thought Patterns, Nespithe, Elements, Inside the Unreal, The Nocturnal Silence, etc. all came out in 1993 as well; Heartwork just finds itself too lacking in comparison to its contemporaries for it to be as acclaimed as it is.

Best melodeath album for me. This one riffs for days

Personally, I think Heartwork is better than The Somberlain, Skydancer, and Elements. The other ones, I'm not sure if I've heard them.

Holy crap 93’ was legit, thinking ITP & Nespithe beat this, The Somberlain is close too. Love TNS as well.
Have them all at 4.5.
