not the sun is so underrated to me. the chorus would be annoying without the lead but the whole song is made by the bridge [2]

Its a bit cliche. Its a bit whiney. There are some really good moments. Some good riffs. But some cringey moments too. I do see why its popular tho. Especially with those 10 years or so younger than me.

What do you think Brand New would think of the 20000 comments that have been made about their album in one single discussion thread

They are probably too busy recording a new album to think about it. *fingers crossed*

I'd imagine Jesse careens wildly between narcissism and deep self-hatred

This is only over rated if you didn't hear it young and going through shit. Not even some ' my parents died ' shit just typical 16 year old "the girl I decided I loved after six months cheated on me" shit. That's when it's a five. When you start listening to out young and stupid. And then you start questioning shit like religion and wether or not your a piece of shit instead of all the unique bullshit you thought you were. This album is perfect for that.
If I started listening to this at 27, yeah, it's kind of dull. It's a 3.5. But shit, every couple of years the albums I 3.5 and 4 start to feel like 2s.

The same could probably be said about American Football's self titled, which is another album everyone around here raves about that I think is good, but not great.

I don't ever recall relating any of this to relationships with girls or anything like that. But as far as the introspective religious ideas and the things that were going on with my friends and family, like death or separation, that's where my connection to this album is and that's why it really hit home.
I was 18 when this came out, but contrary to what I said before and what you stated, I think I'd still connect with this a lot. I listened to it front to back the other day and was still drawing relevant situations to the things going on in my life.

^that's where this one hits me too, especially because of how much of a lie i think my religion is (or how much my church portrays it as at least)
