i don't hate linkin park, this album is fine. i just think you are over doing it a bit with your statement about how most bands nowadays are effectively ripping them off.

I still feel a very false sense of anger on this album, like maybe Chester was mad like a few times a 5th grader. Like when he was picked last for recess football and the one time he slept thru a math test because he stayed up all night watching Transformers and Pokemon, but beyond that he was fine. Korn's s/t knew what was up, and even Limp Bizkit sounds more pissed off than this album.

That's a big part of why it was so insanely popular though. It was angsty/angry enough for the younger generation discovering heavier styles of music, and it was acceptable to parents, since I think the most harsh lyric on here is Chester screaming "SHUT UP!"

I mean, I agree with you, but that was probably a big part of the appeal.
