Album does meander a bit after Glimpse, and I'm having a hard time getting into End to Excess. Highlights are sky high tho I absolutely love Blue Reverie and Wish/Glimpse. Wave is also awesome.

Actually, god even the softer songs on self titled are way better than anything on the new one, Shadow Atonomous, Vanish Canvas. Cure is bafflingly by the numbers and basic, the boys really let me down on the this one, kinda fucking garbage ngl.

there's a substantial handful of stuff on the album that i comfortably like more than divisionary and memory fiction but vanish canvas is still probably the peak of jt erra for me alongside eidolon / remnant and nigh
think glimpse and maybe wave have the potential of joining that tier when the dust settles

yeah with pale iris gone they're really not that far off for me back to front ngl huge shocker for me. jammed all night and really feel settled into its groove and shape
think the biggest reason i don't think this'll be overtaken for me (outside of my insanely overinflated bias towards this beast lmao) is j there's a few moments where i feel jesse scales back his parts a *little* too much. generally i think it was the right choice for these songs, but like for a specific example the rumor of light pre chorus needs a little more spice and sparkle in it i think. that's a very jesse-istic and also music grad school-istic perspective tho lmao, and it's not a huge problem when he still drops shit like fuckin idle wild's skyscraper hook
