When this first came out I thought it was decent but didn't get on with the vocals. Eventually gave up on it. Then a couple months ago I discovered the instrumental version and really enjoyed it. Decided to try the version with vocals again a few days ago and wow they have super clicked. I absolutely love them now. The vocals, and the album as a whole, hit so hard. This thing is blowing me away.

Loic's vocals are generally kinda weird, he sounds like this typical 42yo dad rocker, but in that song his cleans are spot on, nothing feels out of place and nothing is bothersome

I think Loïc has gotten a lot better than those first couple albums he was on. I remember it was absolutely jarring to hear him for the first time compared to the iron clad performances on Precambrian and Aeolian. Pelagial and onwards he settled into a nicer balance.

his phrasing is strange and wonderful on Permian. yeah it took a couple albums for him to settle in with the band (those being released in one year helped the timeline) but even they're still a solid spin.

LOVE the instrumental version of this, better than with the vocals in general. the cleans are just blehhh
