The average is still more than respectable, just a few prominent users/fans (me included) that were a little underwhelmed & wanted to discuss/vent.

Yeah that looks like a sweet line up, I’ve been procrastinating/considering my options.

i’m so jealous of the west coast lineup, the east coast tour opening bands were a letdown imo

"Still surprises me how lukewarm the reception for this is here (he says after 4 straight 4.5 comments). Like, in almost every other corner of the internet this is being received just as well as AtF and AWLWLB (reddit, RYM, etc)"

this is such a stupid, irrelevant comment

like if u think this album is as good as axe to fall ud have to be deaf

dude omg jesus christtttttttt

theres like 0 riffs on this thing its so mediocre, slow songs r pretty bad, trigger sucks, ark calm has worse guitar work in kurt history, quarrel is an axe to fall b side, and i mean thousands of miles is one of the worst converge songs

besides broken by light, reptilian and of course tell about pain they should never play a song off this album again after the tour is over

i consider myself one of the biggest verge fanboys left on sput but idk what it is and how people think this is an acceptable converge album tbh

axe to fall has very little song diversity, the whole "we play really complex aggressive and fast" gets old reaaaaally quick with nothing to really help break up the mood up, whereas this is a consistently interesting and engaging record that shows converge perfecting a lot of what theyve done before (broken by light and arkhipov calm being among their better aggressive songs, and the dusk in us being easily one of their best slow burners) with some new experiments that paid off extremely well (no idea how you think trigger sucks)

and i like axe to fall dont get me wrong i just have no idea how some people think this is like such a major disappointment, especially compared with some of their weaker records like no heroes

there is nothing engaging about this record as a whole

we play really complex (its not that complex, maybe the drumming is thats it) aggressive fast music is literally the cornerstone of punk and metal

worms will feed breaks up atf pretty well, then the last 4 tracks destroy everything here besides pain. like cruel bloom and wretched world are so much better than dusk in us and thousands of miles its not even funny.

yea we just must have different ears man cause arkipolv calm is so bad idk i dont get it lmao the lead riff is atrocious

trigger is a bad jesus lizard cover song and it sounds as laughably out of place on the album as it did at the show i saw

also no heroes also kicks the crap out of this, not sure what ur smokin!!

you fail me doesnt really have any song diversity

its about 1000x better than this record

wfcc has some surprises here and there but mostly the same stuff

1000x better than this record

this is kurts worst performance as a guitarist too, he was genius on axe to fall

idk how you could think ark calm is one of their better aggressive songs

in fact, every song on no heroes besides lonewolves is better

everything after orphans is a blur of the same, with the exception of trophy scars

feel like the problem i DONT have with this that i have with other converge records is there isn't a single moment on here where all the songs start to blur together, even after many many repeated listens. this is an issue axe, no heroes, and to a lesser extent awlwlb have. it flows well and not a single song is subpar,

except maybe thousands of miles

idk man i guess we listen to them for different reasons?

i mean there r riffs but they are mostly flat and whack by ballou standards

but yea all the songs r subpar so gotta disagree

seriously dont get how bare my teeth and to the lions dont absolutely destroy this entire record idk

listen to those songs again

the riff in the 'chorus' on to the lions is better than every single riff on this entire record
