New song sounds cool but I think it lacks something.

It sounds a little bit generic for Tame Impala maybe? I'd prefer if it had something more unique to its sound or more variety on it

Bland, but expected sound progression considering how glossy this is.

Going major must've really gotten his head a bit too big.

"Supertramp’s back boyz"

lmao it'd be an insta 5 if that was the case but I don't think it sounds like Supertramp at all

they've always been damn derivative, but people like how they seem to take a certain musical era (late '60s psych, early '70s disco) and put their lil nostalgic reverb-laden twist to it

The songs are good and sound varied, but yea a bit bland and generic compared to what he’s done before. Hopefully we’ll get some longer tracks and slightly proggier elements elsewhere on the record.

The talent to create an epic is definitely there and the fact that they haven't done one yet annoys me a lot.

I suppose Let it Happen and Apocalypse Dreams are the closest we've been to that

That’s all I’m asking for, a couple tracks on the level of Let it Happen and New Person, Same Old Mistakes.

I don't mind the more pop-inflected direction, then again I need more of that in my life. especially with the lyrical themes presented atm, I dig.

I don't mind it either, I actually like it, but pop doesn't mean repetitive (Currents is the album that works as evidence of that), but I think the new song is certainly repetitive

Agreed, this could’ve even been my favorite if it was better organized and some of the shorter songs were more developed.

New song is ok. I thought Borderline was notably better but I'm wondering if either of those 2 previous singles have anything to do w/ the new record?
