This album is melting magma that sets your cranium on fire... Masterpiece of an agonized metal.

I guess thats because there is too much shitty newer bands with copy-paste "core", "tech" and such sound. Even on this site, things like periphery are getting a lot of attention and acclaim. Metal is certainly alive, but infestation of those carbon-copy bands compromises it's modern legacy. Being almost exclusively a metal listener for more than 12 years, i must say it's easy to fall in to that trap and disrespect any modern bands around. But things like this, Vektor and some other bands is what makes modern metal respectful in the eyes of bitter metalheads.

We have pseudo sub-genres called stuff like "old school death metal" that sort of reinforce the elitist stigma of "old is better; new isn't trve!" so I get why people don't want to label stuff as being "modern".

I wouldn't have a problem calling this band "modern" death metal, but it is somewhat weird to call a band that plays like pure osdm a modern band just because they are a new band. I associate the term "modern" with a sound of music, more than a date of its release. but I guess you can go either way.

yea, probably what the guys have already said, the word "modern" just brings too many negative connotations sadly. it SHOULDN'T, like OvDeath is saying, but yea, that's the reality.

hmmm.. what do you mean? maybe I should listen to Destroyers more, never really thought of Paracletus while listening to that album. I mean sure, the similarities between Ulc and DsO were always obvious, but if you could be a bit more specific pls?
