People who bash Porcupine Tree lyrics should focus on recent Steven Wilson lyrics, because after H.C.E. he took a dip in quality.

Musicwise.

I mean both album have a pretty lame 9 min song, but TTB is at least catchy. This has Arriving Somewhere and Lazarus though, two of Wilsons best songs

I'm glad that someone loves TTB so much, tbh. I dig it too, but it's just not up there, for me.

@Zakalwe

Must be. I follow a guy o YT who's making prog reviews (Notes Reviews is the channel's name), and his all time favourite Opeth album is Pale Communion (he's more into prog rock than prog metal, so he finds anything he needs on that record). So I guess there are people of so many tastes, that someone must treasure TTB more than anything. And if it's not a matter of taste alone, think of a kid who's parent played TTB when they were young, someone who got it as a gift, or what TTB symbolizes in their life.

TL;DR There's definitely a person out there drooling over TTB.

Indeed myth.

I’m the same with Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space. Don’t get me wrong it’s a timeless masterpiece and I could do worse with a ‘favourite of all time’ but it’s literally been my fave album since 1997 and a lot of that has to do with the symbolism throughout the years. Sometimes I feel like it’s an anchor around me neck lol

The talking verses/lyrics in the t/t, Halo, and Open Car is the main reason that Deadwing isn't perfect. I adore everything else, and even consider the t/t one of their best songs despite that little weird section.

Wilson has been very hit-and-miss with lyrics for like 20 years now. He had a pretty good streak in his solo albums in that regard until TtB.

I love TTB more than most I expect, my 2nd favorite solo Wilson album besides HCE, but the lyrics is the weakest part of it for sure. Musically tho it's near perfect for me.

Talking verses on Halo and Open Car make the songs, imo. T/t is a different thing, but I don't dislike it, it's been so long that now it seems just natural to me the way it is.

I LOVE the whispered verses of Deadwing, so refreshing. and the only downside to Open Car is that the album version is missing that incredible bridge from the DVD version
