I put Cities and Blueprints both down at the bottom, but each have a couple songs I really like.

Cities at the bottom? No wayyyy

Yeah...
It just doesn't do much for me, and it definitely isn't an album I can listen to straight through. I have had it since it was originally released, and I don't remember thinking it was all that great back then either. That 4+ average has always perplexed me ever since I first got on this site.
I will give it the slightest notch above Blueprints solely because of Foreign Language, which I think that is one of their absolute worst songs.

Godspeed, Adelaide, Unwinding Cable Car, Hello Alone, Fin?
5 of the best songs they ever made imo.

I'll agree on Godspeed and Cable Car!

There aren't many bands like this around these days are there?

Have you ever listened to The Classic Crime? They have a similar alt/pop/rock vibe that Anberlin has with a stellar vocalist.
The Silver Cord is my favorite of theirs, but just about everything I have heard from them is really good.

No but I'm digging it so far, cheers!

TCC was great and never got the love they deserved. Their recent work hasn't done much for me, but The Silver Cord is a hard 5. Matt MacDonald has an incredible voice too. Cheers Ecnalzen for good taste!
...except how on earth do you not love Cities??

Cities is such a fun nostalgic romp I love it

If I didn't hear Cities for the first time when I was 13 I probably wouldn't love it now. But god damn does it get me going.
Same thing with this album in a way honestly, in a vacuum it probably isn't that great but for a pop rock album it gets you fired up.

If I could hear Cities for the first time at 27 instead of 14 I'd still probably be enraptured by Fin, at the very least

Yes, fellow TCC fan(s) rejoice! I have always really liked them, ever since I heard The Fight. The hooks were in. Still need to try out How to be Human, tho. I meant to and it just never happened.
I dunno, Project. I have been listening to this band on the regular since I heard/saw a video for Readyfuels a long time ago and picked up Blueprints and just kept grabbing their albums as they were released. I have changed my mind on a few of them over the years, but I am pretty sure Cities was always in the 3-3.5 range for me.

The production still fuckin blows but there is some bangers here

What are the issues with production? I guess I'm not as well versed in that side of music

It just sounds like shit. The mixing is very amateurish and rough. It doesn't sound like a professionally released album from a major band.

Huh. I'll have to see if I notice it more this listen through. Cause normally that does bother me, but I guess I might have nostalgia goggles on to hard
