This, terria and city are his holy trinity.

I wouldn't say over the top, just heartfelt. I'd describe guys like dio and Bruce dickinson as over the top, Dev as passionate. But all of them rule so

Agreed about the holy trinity. Alien is still a 5 for me though, and Addicted....

Those three and accelerated evolution are all 5s for me, synchestra looks like it's headed that way too. I can't even conceive ever giving any other band/artist 4 fives

Accelerated is a pretty firm 4.5 for me, I haven't really been able to get into Synchestra, I still listen to a few tracks regularly but as a whole I just haven't digested it.

It's really hard to get into, even more so than terria I found. First time I listened to it though I thought it was boring as hell lol. I now think let it roll through to babysong is one of the strongest stretches he's done.

Addicted, casualties of cool and infinity are all also verging on 5s

Funeral, Bastard and The Death Of Music is one of the best 3 song stretches I've ever heard.

Too true, one listen to that opening riff of life was all it took

Also gmork only just realised that your pic is a gif of Dev, that's hilarious haha

As a fan of Isis, it really boggles my mind how well Devin captured this "Oceanic" feel with this classic of a progressive metal. Those 2 albums are my favourite of underwater metal and I doubt there will be any to top those.

What about starting riff on "Greetings"? It makes my ears having on orgasm, especially on proper acoustic.

Never been a huge Townsend fan (like many of his songs, just not overall albums in general aside from City). Until now. Can't believe I've never heard of this album until just a few days ago; although I suppose the initial name it was released under didn't help. Usually I'm lucky to find at least one album per year that I want to listen to from start to finish. So far this year, this would be such an album.

@Drummerboy123, for me it would be Regulator, Funeral and Bastard.
