@zak ikr that's what I thought. Being it's my last elective while I'm swamped with business classes I chose it because it's guaranteed be the easiest 3 credits ever.

thanks for the support camillo, also, friday, I think side 2 of Abbey is pretty experimantal, a medley to end a career, pretty awesome, and they linked them together pretty radically

the civil war class I took was pretty awesome, I wrote my thesis on the technological advancements in firearms spanning the war

I wouldn't really call it experimental... especially when they Beatles have done so many songs that are more experimental.

Maybe Because is experimental, but that's like it honestly.

most of what they did can be traced to before they did it, people say that all the time, but it was like if the Beatles did something they were the first; not true in many cases

It's not that they were super experimental, it's that some their pre-Abbey Road stuff was way more experimental than Abbey Road could ever be.

Tomorrow Never Knows (for 1966)

Love You To and Within You And Without You (I pair these two together since they were experimental in the same sense since they were raga based)

Parts of A Day in the Life

The end of Strawberry Fields Forever and I Am the Walrus

Only a Northern Song

Wild Honey Pie

Revolution 9

None of it other than Revolution 9 and Tomorrow Never Knows are really like super experimental, but they're still all way more experimental than a single song on Abbey Road other than maybe Because.

They definitely weren't the first ones, it is impossible to give the credit of a new sound to just one band but I really can't think of many examples of bands that managed to mix such a big amount of different sounds and being good at it too

Abbey Road is definitely not their most experimental album but it is still pretty innovative for its time. More experimental doesn't mean better album though.

P.S Tomorrow Never Knows rules so fucking hard

dont get only a Northern song at all, but get it, somewhat experimantal, for a mainstream band on the top 40, but look at 13th floor elevators and The Mothers of Invention, in 66 most of these things done on their albums of that vintage.

Well duh The Mothers of Invention are obviously far more experimental, but I'm just saying that the 66-68 Beatles was far more experimental than 69-70 Beatles

Both Zappa and Elevators started in 66, Revolver is from 66 too, don't think a couple of months of difference at best is enough to say "this sound already existed"

"was far more experimental than 69-70 Beatles" and far more experimental than like 90% of the bands at the time

What about Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) from 1965? heh

That's probably why I like their 1965-1968 stuff more than Abbey Road honestly... I guess.

Ever imagine what the Beatles would have been like if they continues on into the 70s? Give Peace a Chance, All Things Must Pass, and Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey all probably would have been Beatles songs damn.

What I'm trying to say is that of course the Beatles weren't the most experimental band ever but they're definitely ONE of the most experimental bands of its time, there were others? yeah, but they were up there too.

Plus as I said, you can't give the credit of a new sound to just one band and in that way I see the Beatles as a band that contributed as much as Zappa for a new sound in music

Most of the psychedelic pop scene bands had some pretty cool experimental tendencies

I guess that's the charm of non-hard rock psychedelia, it's basically begging to get weird.

Have you heard Smiley Smile? It literally sounds nothing like their pre-Pet Sounds stuff and only barely sounds like Pet Sounds... you might like this, try this song:
