obviously i know that and i'm referring to people whose opinion of this album is deflated by the overwhelming expectations we've built around it, which is not a rare phenomenon (it happens with the two albums you mentioned) but i'm talking specifically about how this album can be harmed by overexposure. surely you can understand how the 'you will always be a loser' shouts might be a bit less special after its become all you've read about for the past few months before even your first listen. i'm not saying it makes it less good or that less people like the album or that they don't love it as much as i do (don't get me wrong either, it can) - what i'm saying is that when hype has built this up to be the be all and end all, it helps to still have a few tricks up your sleeve, particularly with an album like this, that drives to each iconic moment on the back of a visceral rollercoaster. i'm not saying it can be solved either because i want this album to get as much exposure and popularity as it can get. it's just frustrating to hear people go, over and over again, "this wasn't as good as i thought it would be", as if this not turning out to be the holy bible of indie rock pins it down as a massive disappointment.
