'Cult of Lullabies'

Lol. I get it, CoL are just too subtle & nuanced for some people.

they're the opposite of subtle and nuanced imo (compared to isis)

you can pretty much tell the crescendos

Yeah, I like crescendos to come completely out of nowhere & make absolutely no compositional sense whatsoever. In fact, lets just throw them in at random, it would shock the listener & destroy any sense of atmosphere. Sounds elite though, right?

CoL are anything but predictable, their songs having some sort of direction isn't a criticism, it's not like they try the same thing in every song.

I mean as in when they start building you almost know exactly where they are going. they sound contrived as opposed to the organic sound of Isis especially oceanic

Every post-metal band is a poor man's Neurosis

@Siimbolic: They don't sound anything alike. In fact your above point certainly implies this, so how are they a poor man's Isis if they don't follow the same formula?

neurosis = quantity

isis = quality

CoL seem to have taken the chill/sludge vibes and stripped it down to a more straight forward sound. I feel I must mention that I like CoL and think they are a very good band. I just think they have the same elements, but without the depth, of isis

at least they're heavier and better overall than Isis and that's what counts
