Kirk Hammett is nothing special. He's really not that good.

Quite possibly the greatest metal album of all time.Metallica were on the top of their career after they released this flawless masterpiece.

50 minutes of great music and 8 killer songs.

The Thing That Should Not Be is a little bit repeated but nonetheless is great.

Master of Puppets is easily Metallica's best album.Although my favorite is their previous one.

The review is kickass.

how opinions change over time

album is almost embarrassing to listen to nowadays, compared to Ride The Lightning and Kill 'Em All this loses all the tightness and tries to focus on a kind of melodicism the band is clearly uncomfortable with at this point, and they start to come off as incredibly corny. it's these elements they have focused more and more upon over the years which have led to their relative downfall, they did their best with it when Bob Rock produced The Black Album but I don't think it has ever really suited them when I revisit their first two albums.

I don't think Master of Puppets works very well at all, the "classic" riffs and solos people have been jizzing over for a couple of decades now just reek of mediocity and I can't help but feel the songwriting seems hacked out despite how efficiently everything is played. The production is flat and uncompelling, and I just don't get any sense of excitement out of it.
